FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

What is the ORSID Therapy Fund?

ORSID Therapy Fund is a registered 501c(3) Corporation that abides by all state and federal laws.

The Therapy Fund is dedicated to independent oversight and financial transparency. A non-profit structure was found to best align with these goals.

Who is on the Board of Directors?

Our volunteer board members are on varying term lengths. Current board members are Ryan McKillop, Julia Chang Bullick, Parker LiaBraaten.

Where is funding coming from? Is the ministry providing the funds or involved in ORSID Therapy Fund processes?

ORSID Therapy Fund is 100% funded by individual donations. Funds are not solicited from any groups, including the ministry.

Donated funds are managed by the independent Board of Directors.

Who is answering requests from survivors?

Emails requesting support are managed by two intake volunteers in the fellowship with backgrounds in human resources, legal, privacy, and trauma-informed case management. Tawnya J. and Susie R. exemplify kindness, professionalism and confidentiality.

Will you share my information with my family, friends, or the ministry?

The Therapy Fund prioritizes survivor confidentiality. No information will be shared with anyone unless explicitly requested by the survivor or mandated by law to authorities.

Are survivors asked to share who the abuser is or provide details of the abuse to be eligible for support?

No

Are you mandatory reporters?

Many board/team members are mandatory reporters. All other board and team members have committed to also following mandatory reporting guidelines.

Do you make therapist recommendations?

No.

Why are only 8 sessions covered?

We are initially committing to fund the amount of sessions we think we can financially support.  If donations exceed the requests, we will increase the number of sessions or stop accepting donations. Our intention is to be a stopgap help on survivors' longer healing journey.

ORSID Therapy Fund is initially planning to operate for 3 years. Why?

Our goal is that over the next 3 years we can quickly raise and distribute funds for survivors.  We recognize everyone is in a different stage of awareness, hurt or healing and want to commit to a minimum 3 year window to avoid placing undue timeline pressure on survivors. We anticipate additional survivors coming forward in the future and want to be available to help in those situations.

Do you provide therapy funds for minors?

No, we only provide therapy funds for adults. If a minor or minor's intermediary reaches out, we will follow Oregon and Idaho Mandatory Reporting Guidelines and provide links to outside resources and information. Link to Oregon’s Mandatory Reporting Guidelines.

Why aren’t you simply directing donors to groups like Fund Recovery- Advocates for the Truth (AFTT)?

Please donate where and when you feel comfortable doing so. We appreciate and support all efforts to help survivors of CSA/SA within or by our fellowship.

What will you do with extra or unused funds?

We will stop accepting donations if the balance exceeds the anticipated therapy funds needed. If a balance remains when the fund closes or dissolves in not less than three years, it will be transferred to another 501c(3) with similar objectives.
